Nepal take on Sri Lanka in AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers today



KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Sri Lanka in their second match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers today. The game is scheduled to kick off at 6:15 PM Nepali time.

Nepal is placed in Group ‘F’ alongside Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, and Laos. The team began its campaign with a resounding 9-0 victory over Laos, while Sri Lanka suffered a heavy 10-0 defeat against hosts Uzbekistan in their opener.

Historically, Nepal holds a strong record against Sri Lanka in international women’s football, remaining unbeaten in all seven encounters between the two sides so far. Nepal currently ranks 100th in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, while Sri Lanka is placed 159th.

The group stage follows a round-robin format, with only the top team from each group qualifying for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 to be held in Australia.

Nepal will play its final group match against hosts Uzbekistan on Saturday.
