Oli, Deuba and Prachanda hold talks

KATHMANDU: Top leaders of major parties in Parliament held discussions on Monday to resolve the ongoing obstruction in the House.

The meeting, held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, was attended by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, whose resignation is being demanded by the opposition, was also present at the discussion, along with senior leaders including Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dev Gurung, and Hit Raj Pandey.

The main opposition, along with the Maoist Center and other parties, has been demanding Lekhak’s resignation over the visit visa scandal. They have been continuously disrupting parliamentary proceedings over the issue.

Prime Minister Oli initiated the talks with key leaders and the home minister in an attempt to end the deadlock in Parliament.

Opposition parties have stated they will not allow the House to function unless Lekhak steps down, saying the current situation has reached a breaking point.
