Top leaders meet to resolve parliament obstruction

KATHMANDU: Top leaders of three major political parties are gathering at Singha Durbar to discuss the ongoing obstruction in Parliament over demands for the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, who has been implicated in the recent visit visa controversy.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called the meeting with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, a key coalition partner, and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, chair of the main opposition party CPN (Maoist Centre).

The development follows a telephone conversation between Deuba and Dahal on Monday. During a parliamentary party meeting earlier, Prime Minister Oli had reportedly stated that he had attempted to contact Dahal for dialogue but was unable to reach him.
