RPP’s Shrestha says Gen-Z movement showing signs of division

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha has said that internal divisions have begun to emerge among youths associated with the Gen-Z movement.

Speaking about Thursday’s tripartite talks held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, Shrestha shared on social media the points he had raised during the meeting. The dialogue, initiated by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, brought together representatives from the government, political parties, and Gen-Z protesters.

According to Shrestha, differences in opinion, unclear demands, and contradictions among some emerging Gen-Z leaders present at the meeting have weakened the movement’s original goals. He remarked that the agenda presented at Baluwatar did not align with the sacrifices and losses the movement had endured.

“The core messages of the movement, abrogation of the constitution, a directly elected executive, formation of an interim government, and reduction of corruption, should have been the focus at the table,” Shrestha said, adding that Gen-Z leaders must not forget this responsibility.

He also warned that disorganized and fragmented Gen-Z groups could easily be misguided or manipulated by external forces aiming to divide the movement. “If the rebellion fails to achieve meaningful change and faces the risk of being hijacked, it will be difficult to carry the weight of the movement forward,” he said.

Shrestha said the RPP has urged Gen-Z leaders to work toward a tripartite understanding with political parties and the government. He emphasized the need for all sides to act responsibly to correct past mistakes and steer the nation toward prosperity.

Calling on Gen-Z activists to honor their fallen comrades, Shrestha appealed to them to move ahead with patience, discipline, and accountability while maintaining constructive dialogue with political parties in the national interest.
