Kabindra Burlakoti informs RSP leaders of Lekh Jung Thapa’s divorce

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) General Secretary, Kabindra Burlakoti, has informed central committee members that the party’s Rupandehi-3 by-election candidate, Dr Lekh Jung Thapa, had divorced one of his wives.

Burlakoti reportedly shared this information in the party’s central committee group, following public controversy over allegations that Thapa has two wives.

“General Secretary Burlakoti has mentioned that a divorce has taken place. After this information was shared, some central members demanded that the divorce papers be made public,” an RSP central committee member told Khabarhub. “The matter has been raised, but the document has not been presented. Leaders are saying the letter should also be produced. At present, Dr Thapa is said to be consulting with some senior party leaders.”

It remains unclear whether the divorce was with Thapa’s first wife or his second.
