Prachanda says Maoist awakening campaigns are mobilizing communities nationwide

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that the party has launched a renewed campaign to re-engage millions of people across oppressed classes, regions, and communities.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Young Communist League (YCL) Nepal on Sunday, Prachanda emphasized that the party is now reactivating and revitalizing grassroots networks through a series of awakening campaigns.

He pointed to recent campaigns in the Madhesh region, the ongoing one in the mid-hills, and an upcoming campaign in the Kathmandu Valley starting on Jestha 20. According to Prachanda, these efforts are generating momentum in every village, neighborhood, and household.

He noted that the campaign is not limited to street-level mobilization, but also aims to reconnect the party and its leadership with the people, their class, and their communities.

He added that the Maoist Centre has also addressed some long-standing theoretical confusions during its central committee meetings.

Specifically, Prachanda said the party has clarified ideological uncertainties regarding the role of ethnic, regional, and class-based fronts during the socialist phase of revolution. He said these fronts remain vital and must be advanced as components of the broader class struggle.

Referencing what he called a holistic approach, Prachanda explained that a debate existed over whether such identity-based movements were still needed post the completion of the bourgeois democratic revolution. He said the party has now resolved this confusion and documented the position, which is being implemented in practice.

He concluded by stating that the central committee’s latest documents have made it clear that, going forward, the party will continue to organize oppressed communities and reignite their involvement in the revolutionary process.
