Harka Raj Rai sworn in as Secretary of the House of Representatives



KATHMANDU: Harka Raj Rai, the newly appointed Secretary of the Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives, officially assumed office today.

Rai took the oath of office and secrecy in a ceremony presided over by Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

The swearing-in event took place in the meeting room of the Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament.

Among those present were Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Padma Prasad Pandey, chief whips and leaders from both ruling and opposition parties, Members of Parliament, and Parliament Service staff.

Rai’s appointment as Secretary of the House of Representatives was recommended by Speaker Ghimire and approved by President Ram Chandra Poudel on Tuesday.

A resident of Shivasatakshi Municipality-2 in Jhapa, Rai has a background in education and has served as a trainer in various government and non-government organizations prior to his parliamentary role.
