KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed his unwavering commitment to strengthening democracy and upholding the constitution.
Speaking at the launch of Captain Rameshwar Thapa’s book Into the Fire on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that no actions will be allowed to infringe upon the rights of others within Nepal’s democratic governance system.
PM Oli dismissed the notion of imitating the governance models of other countries, stressing that Nepal has its own unique identity, civilization, and culture.
“Nepal does not need to copy from others,” he said, asserting that political developments similar to those in Bangladesh will not occur in Nepal.
The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to democracy and the rule of law, stating, “We fought for democracy and the constitution, and we are going to strengthen them. It is not possible for those who fought against democracy to tarnish us.”
He further emphasized that anarchy and violence, as experienced in the past, will no longer be tolerated in Nepal.
PM Oli assured the public that the incumbent government is committed to justice and will not act out of self-interest through improper means.
The government is dedicated to maintaining peace, law, and order, especially when the security and interests of the people are at risk.
He also stressed the importance of rational law implementation and affirmed that democracy should guide the norms and values of both the government and society.
Reaffirming his dedication to integrity and his stance against corruption, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the government’s efforts to break the cycle of poverty through economic improvements.
The book launch event saw the joint participation of Prime Minister Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Balguru Adityanath in unveiling Into the Fire.
