LUMBINI: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has claimed that the government has established political and policy stability, laying the groundwork for development and prosperity in the country.
He made these remarks while laying the foundation stone for a new building at Lumbini Province Hospital today.
Despite acknowledging the economic challenges facing the nation, DPM Paudel emphasized the government’s achievements in a short period since its formation.
He highlighted the need to restore confidence among private entities to boost production and productivity, stressing that the coalition government’s primary goal is to maintain stability in the country.
“The collaboration between the Nepali Congress and the CPN UML has strengthened democracy and citizen rights, creating an environment of political and policy stability,” Paudel stated.
He also called on both ruling and opposition parties to work together to accelerate development efforts.
During the event, the DPM directed the construction company, provincial government, and provincial infrastructure authority to ensure the timely completion of the hospital building without compromising on quality.
“This is a three-year project, so it must be completed on time,” he urged.
He also stressed that a modern building alone is not sufficient, emphasizing the importance of proper management, skilled workforce, and availability of medical equipment for the hospital to function effectively.
The new facility, once completed, will house 1,200 beds and require adequate and competent human resources.
Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya, present at the event, noted that the completion of the hospital building would bring significant improvements to the medical sector in Lumbini Province.
Dubbed a “dream project” of the province, the hospital is being constructed with an investment of Rs 6.18 billion from the provincial government.
The Infrastructure Authority under the Lumbini Provincial Government awarded the construction contract to the Indian company Cap Site Ashish Religate Venture on January 11, 2024, in collaboration with a Nepali company.
The project is scheduled for completion by January 2029.
