KATHMANDU: The residents of Bhaktapur observed the Pancha Dan festival, a tradition of offering five essential gifts.
The five items typically donated—rice grains, unhusked rice grains, salt, money, and pulses—are considered daily necessities.
In modern times, people often choose to donate additional items according to their capacity and preference.
The festival, which occurs on Trayodashi, two days before Father’s Day (Buwa ko Mukh Herne Din) in the lunar calendar, is marked by a vibrant procession.
Five Dipankara Buddhas were carried around the Bhaktapur Durbar Square area, where they were warmly welcomed and worshiped with special traditional music and dance.
