KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has congratulated Palesha Govardhan for winning a historic bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

In a social media post this morning, PM Oli praised Govardhan for achieving a significant milestone for Nepal in sports.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have been ongoing in Paris, France, since August 28. Competing in the women’s under 57 kg Taekwondo event in the K-44 category, Palesha secured the bronze medal by defeating Serbia’s Marija Micev with a score of 15-8 in a match held last night.

Earlier, Palesha had defeated Valeria Morales of Venezuela 31-0 in the first round, advancing to the quarterfinals, where she narrowly lost to Brazil’s Silvana Fernandes with a score of 10-8.

Despite the loss, Palesha entered the repechage round, where she triumphed over France’s Sefi Carvajal by 2-1, securing the bronze medal.
