KATHMANDU: Maoist Center Deputy General Secretary Haribol Gajurel has resigned from his position, citing a series of errors by the party leadership.

Gajurel’s resignation was submitted in writing on July 29, following the start of an official meeting.

In his resignation letter, he highlighted six ‘mistakes’ made by the party’s leadership and called for a collective resignation of all office bearers.

Addressing party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” in his letter, Gajurel acknowledged his own role in the party’s decline and expressed a desire for atonement.

“Resignation provides moral strength to join the great journey,” Gajurel stated.

“To unite the party and rebuild trust with the workers and the public, it is essential to address the broken hearts of our supporters rather than making arbitrary decisions.”

Gajurel warned of serious repercussions if the party fails to engage in a comprehensive discussion to address its issues.

He criticized the current discussions as insufficient and called for a higher-level meeting to enact substantial changes.

“Surgery is needed, not bandages,” he asserted, emphasizing that past discussions have been inadequate.

He expressed his displeasure with the appointment of Prachanda’s brother, Narayan Dahal, as Chairman of the National Assembly and criticized the party’s leadership for exposing incompetence in key decisions.

Gajurel also highlighted issues with the selection process for the Chairman of the National Assembly, claiming it has undermined the moral integrity of the office bearers.

Gajurel further criticized the party’s deviation from Marxist principles and dissatisfaction with the lack of engagement in political issues formally submitted by party leaders.

He also pointed out procedural violations and exclusion of ideologically and politically capable leaders from the standing committee.

Previously, Gajurel had resigned from the position of advisor to the Prime Minister during Pushpa Kamal Dahal Dahal’s tenure.
