KATHMANDU: The Special Court has granted permission to extend the detention of Bikal Paudel and Sunil Paudel, who were arrested on charges of illegal property acquisition, for an additional 21 days for further investigation.
According to Special Court’s spokesperson, Dhan Bahadur Karki, the full bench of Special Court chaired by Judge Teknarayan Kunwar, with members Tejanarayan Singh Rai and Riten Thapa, granted the request for additional detention of former Managing Director of Nepal Telecom, Sunil, and former Executive Director of Security Printing Press, Bikal.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had arrested Sunil and Bikal on January 21.
Subsequently, on February 14, a further 10-day extension was granted over them.
The case against Bikal revolves around irregularities in the purchase of Security Printing Press, while Sunil is implicated in irregularities related to Payment Gateway.
