161 kg marijuana confiscated from truck in Parsa, two arrested



PARSA: Police in Parsa have confiscated 161 kilograms of marijuana from a truck in Birgunj and arrested two individuals in connection with the case.

The suspects have been identified as 44-year-old Krishna Ghalan of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-7, Makwanpur, and 20-year-old Ronal Bishwakarma of Rapti Municipality-3, Chitwan.

According to Parsa police spokesperson DSP Kishor Lamsal, the contraband was discovered on Sunday night during a search of truck number Na 3 Kha 4212, which was heading towards the dry port from Parwanipur.

The marijuana, concealed in a false compartment of the truck’s hood, was packed into 16 plastic-wrapped bundles and confiscated near Bhawanipur Sitaram Chowk in Metropolitan Ward 18.

Ghalan, the truck driver, and Bishwakarma, a passenger, are being held in custody for further investigation.
