KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the ministers and secretaries of all ministries to focus on goal-oriented and result-driven work to promote national development and prosperity.
During a meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, PM Oli emphasized the importance of adhering to existing laws and regulations while fulfilling their assigned responsibilities.
PM Oli instructed all ministers, secretaries, and project chiefs to enter into performance agreements and delegate authority effectively.
He stressed the need to prioritize providing smooth and efficient services to citizens.
He also emphasized the importance of setting clear goals and periodic plans, including daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly objectives.
Directives for Effective Service Delivery
The Prime Minister highlighted the need to eliminate long lines and ensure hassle-free access to government services, such as obtaining driving licenses, passports, national identity cards, and other documents.
He urged government officials to work in the nation’s and people’s interest while adhering to the Constitution and laws.
‘Present Status of Work Not Satisfactory’
Expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of work, PM Oli urged ministers and secretaries to improve efficiency.
He highlighted the contributions of the two largest parties in parliament to the country’s social and economic changes and emphasized that the government cannot afford to fail.
Government’s Commitment and Future Plans
PM Oli reiterated the government’s commitment to success, emphasizing that it has no excuse for failure.
He mentioned that the current government, formed with the Nepali Congress’s support, aims to maintain peace, good governance, and efficient public service.
He also announced that he would resign a week before the government’s two-year term ends, with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba expected to lead the government until the next election.
Operationalization of Ship and Train Services
The Prime Minister called for progress in establishing the country’s own ship and train services, particularly where feasibility studies have been conducted.
He encouraged decision-making without fear and emphasized the goal of making Nepal prosperous, eliminating poverty, and boosting domestic production.
Other Key Directives
PM Oli urged ministries and government bodies to work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, address issues like revenue leakage, and improve the capital market.
He also called for the completion of the Dharahara construction and its operation, promising new sources of income from the project.
Finally, PM Oli announced that each minister would be required to present a 100-day progress report, outlining the work accomplished and ensuring that the results are satisfactory and understandable.
