UML Chair Oli urges PM Dahal to avoid attention on appointments, transfers, and promotions

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has advised Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ not to focus on appointments, transfers, and promotions.

The UML Chairman’s remarks come shortly after his meeting with Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, a move seen as significant.

However, Oli did not disclose any discussions about a potential change in government.

He emphasized that now is not the time to be entangled in minor appointments, transfers, and promotions.

Speaking at an event organized by the party’s Agriculture and Cooperative Department on Sunday in Kathmandu, Oli suggested that the Prime Minister concentrate on bringing concrete proposals for policy reforms.

“I have told the Prime Minister, let’s not get bogged down in minor appointments, transfers, and promotions. Let’s discuss policy matters. Let’s deliberate on what kind of reforms, changes, steps, and policies are needed in various sectors. Let’s not just listen and be done with it as if listening to a tale with eyes closed. We need to move towards concrete implementation. Bring forward solid proposals for practical steps,” he said.

Oli expressed confidence that significant changes could be achieved in the agricultural sector within the next five years.

He stressed that there is no time to wait for improvements in agriculture.

Notably, Oli did not attend the inauguration program of the 10th General Convention of his former comrade Madhav Nepal’s CPN-Unified Socialist Party.

The entire UML boycotted the event, highlighting potential issues within the current ruling coalition.

Nepali Congress leaders have been advocating for collaboration between the two major parties for political stability and national prosperity.

Saturday’s meeting between the two top leaders has been viewed as an indication that something is being cooked between the key stakeholders of the current political scenario, UML, the largest party in the coalition, and NC, the main opposition party
