Lawmakers fall asleep during parliament sessions: Deputy Speaker Rana

KATHMANDU: Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar has revealed that some members of parliament (MPs) fall asleep during parliamentary sessions.

Speaking at an event celebrating the 66th Parliament Day at the Federal Parliament Building on Sunday, Deputy Speaker Rana stated that she has observed MPs snoring and sleeping during meetings.

“It’s not allowed to take photos in the parliament, but the honorable members are sleeping soundly,” she said, adding, “I have seen many people sleeping here as well. I have even recorded some of it.”

Deputy Speaker Rana also expressed her concern that the budget allocated to the Ministry of Women is not even equivalent to that of a single project.
