Israeli Ambassador Goder demands release of 125 individuals, including Bipin Joshi

KATHMANDU: Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Hanan Goder, has demanded the unconditional release of 125 people, including Bipin Joshi, who were abducted by the fundamentalist group Hamas.

Ambassador Goder made this demand while addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday to celebrate Israel’s 76th Independence Day.

He emphasized that Israel seeks the release of all hostages held by Hamas. The event was attended by Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, political leaders, dignitaries, and businessmen, among others.

Ambassador Goder reiterated Israel’s commitment to maintaining peace and tolerance in West Asia.

He praised the bold decision of the Nepal government in 1960 to establish diplomatic relations with Israel.

Despite the geographical distance, he noted, the relationship between the governments and people of both countries remains strong.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Deputy Speaker, Members of Parliament, leaders of various political parties, former foreign ministers, heads and officers of diplomatic missions, high-ranking government officials, industrialists, businesspersons, media persons, and other distinguished guests.

Photos showcasing the damage caused in Israel by Hamas eight months ago were displayed during the Independence Day celebration.

The attack on October 7, 2023, resulted in the death of 1,139 people, including 10 Nepali students, and the abduction of 252 Israelis and foreigners.

During a temporary ceasefire, Hamas released 150 hostages, including 22 foreigners. Bipin Joshi remains among those awaiting release.
