Fatal elephant attack claims woman’s life in Jhapa



DAMAK: Tragedy struck in Kamal Rural Municipality of Jhapa district as a woman lost her life in an elephant attack last night.

Lal Bahadur Bista, Ward Chairman of Kamal Rural Municipality-5, reported that Khadga Maya Limbu, aged 58 and a resident of Guheshwori Tole, succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack.

The unfortunate incident occurred at 11:50 PM when Limbu encountered the elephant while attempting to flee after the tusker demolished a neighbor’s house, belonging to Pabitra Begha.

According to Ward Chairman Bista, Limbu tragically passed away at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

This marks the seventh fatality caused by wild elephant attacks in Jhapa district this year, with seven others sustaining injuries, as confirmed by Anjana Puri, Information Officer at the Division Forest Office.
