KATHMANDU: A devastating series of floods, landslides, and inundations caused by heavy rains has resulted in 99 confirmed deaths in Nepal.

Additionally, 72 people remain missing, and 100 have sustained injuries in the disaster.

Rishi Ram Tiwari, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, reported that 48 of the fatalities occurred in the Kathmandu Valley alone, with 25 deaths in Kathmandu, 5 in Bhaktapur, and 18 in Lalitpur.

As of Saturday night, Spokesperson Tiwari announced that 68 individuals had been rescued by Nepalese army helicopters in Makwanpur, Sindhuli, and Kavrepalanchok.

Among those rescued, 33 were from Makwanpur, 33 from Sindhuli, and 2 from Kavrepalanchowk.
