KATHMANDU: Following the authentication of the Transitional Justice Bill by President Ram Chandra Paudel, ten countries have expressed their support for the legislation and pledged assistance in its implementation.
The bill, formally known as the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 BS, was authenticated by President Paudel on Thursday under Article 113(2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
The House of Representatives passed the bill on August 14, and it was subsequently endorsed by the National Assembly on August 22. A
After the President’s authentication, the bill is now legally validated and set for implementation.
Ten nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Finland, the European Union, Germany, and France, issued a joint statement welcoming the bill.
