Govt distributes Rs. 3 lakh each to women volleyball players



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli awarded prizes to players participating in the ‘CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League, 2024′ tournament today.

Fourteen players, including team captain Aruna Shahi, received Rs. 3 lakh each.

Chief Coach Jagdish Prasad Bhatta was also honored.

Nepal secured second place with a stellar performance in the tournament held in Kathmandu recently.

Following a Council of Ministers’ decision, a total prize fund of Rs. 47.6 lakh was allocated to the participating players and trainees.

Earlier, Prime Minister Oli met with the players and coaches to discuss the development of volleyball.

He expressed his satisfaction with the achievements of the women volleyball players and encouraged them to strive for new records.

“I believe our sportsmen and women have gained enthusiasm for further success and progress,” said Prime Minister Oli.

“I wish them continued success with this award. The government will do its best to provide the necessary environment and infrastructure for continuous practice and motivation. Go forward with high morale, knowing we will support you in achieving victory wherever you compete.”

He also highlighted his commitment to upgrading the Kirtipur Sports Ground within 300 days and urged relevant bodies to prepare for the 10th National Sports Tournament.

Additionally, he noted the muddy conditions of the Dasharath Stadium during the match and emphasized that it should be reserved for appropriate levels of competition only.
