Transitional Justice mechanism meeting to convene on Thursday

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Transitional Justice (TJ) mechanism is scheduled to take place on Thursday.

On Monday, a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar, attended by stakeholders including members of the mechanism, decided to hold a follow-up meeting on Thursday.

Nepali Congress leader and Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak, CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, and Maoist Centre’s Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma participated in the meeting, which focused on finalizing the TJ bill.

UML Chief Whip Bartaula stated, “We will study and review the main Act, the bills, and the reports from the sub-committees related to transitional justice. We will collect questions and concerns regarding these issues, and the next meeting on Thursday will be held with full preparation.”

He also mentioned that the mechanism will draft summaries of all discussions held so far and focus on these drafts in upcoming meetings.
