KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal and the Unified Socialist party continue to grapple with incomplete central committees more than a month after their respective conventions.

JSP Nepal, which supports the government, has yet to finalize its central committee since its convention over a month and a half ago.

Similarly, the opposition Unified Socialist is in a comparable situation, with its central committee also left incomplete nearly a month after its convention.

JSP Nepal held its first unity convention in Janakpurdham, while the United Socialists held their 10th national convention in Kathmandu.

Upendra Yadav was elected as the central chairman at the JSP Nepal convention.

Meanwhile, Madhav Kumar Nepal was re-elected as Chairman of the United Socialist party.

Leader Alok Rayamajhi stated that the meeting, which will be held at the party’s central office in Aloknagar, will determine the central members.

Yadav was elected unopposed at the JSP convention.

In contrast, Madhav Nepal and fellow leaders Jhalanath Khanal and Ghanashyam Bhusal were re-elected as the leadership team of the United Socialist, with Madhav Nepal becoming Chairman, Khanal as the honorable leader, and Bhusal as the General Secretary.

Yadav announced a 215-member central committee for JSP Nepal, nearly a month after his unopposed election as Chairman.

Currently, only Yadav and eight executive members are officially in place, including Rakam Chemjong, Gobinda Chaudhary, Prakash Adhikari, Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Manish Kumar Suman, Rajkishor Yadav, Lalbabu Raut, and Shivalal Thapamagar.

JSP Nepal stated that the finalization of office bearers will be decided in a future central committee meeting, which is scheduled to convene exactly one month after the announcement of the committee.

Suman, a member of the Central Executive Committee of JSP Nepal, stated that the party’s Central Committee meeting is scheduled to take place from August 11 to 14 at the central office in Balkumari, Lalitpur.

However, he clarified that the meeting will not address the selection of office bearers.

“In the meeting, we will focus on discussing the ideological and theoretical concepts and the role the party should play in the current national political context,” Suman told Khabarhub.

He added that the decision on office bearers will be made after the central committee meeting, with the responsibility of selecting them assigned to the chairman.

“Following the central committee meeting, the chairman will finalize the office bearers,” Suman said.

Meanwhile, despite forming a 93-member central committee at its convention, the United Socialist Party has not yet completed its central committee.

Khanal, who was appointed chairman of the presidium during the convention, announced the 93-member central committee.

The party has called a central committee meeting for today.

Leader Alok Rayamajhi stated that the meeting, which will be held at the party’s central office in Aloknagar, will determine the central members.

According to the party’s statute, the Central Committee is supposed to consist of 21 office bearers and 299 members.

However, the United Socialist Party is now considering expanding the committee to 329 members.
