Consumer-friendly laws needed, says Minister Giri

PARBAT: Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Padam Giri, has emphasized the need for consumer-friendly laws in the drinking water supply sector.

Speaking at the 18th general assembly of the Shivalaya Drinking Water Consumer and Sanitation Organization in Parbat on Saturday, Minister Giri highlighted the necessity of amending the existing Act to reduce tariffs for consumers.

Minister Giri reiterated that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right of citizens.

He assured that the current government is committed to ensuring this right by managing existing projects and expanding new ones.

With water sources drying up, Minister Giri stressed that drinking water projects must adopt an integrated approach, including the exploration of new water sources.

In a separate context, Minister Giri called for stringent actions against fraudulent cooperative managers.

He suggested that such individuals should be blacklisted and deprived of government services.

The Law Minister also mentioned that the drafting of laws to prosecute deceitful cooperative organizations is in its final stages.
