Surendra Pandey appointed Gandaki Province Chief Minister

POKHARA: Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party leader Surendra Pandey has been appointed Chief Minister of Gandaki Province.

Gandaki Province Chief Dilliram Bhatta appointed Pandey as Chief Minister on Wednesday.

Earlier, a division bench of Supreme Court justices Kumar Regmi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel on Monday ordered Pandey’s appointment as Chief Minister as the leader of the largest party in Gandaki Province.

The Supreme Court declared the vote of confidence taken by CPN-UML parliamentary party leader Khagaraj Adhikari unconstitutional and annulled his appointment as Chief Minister.

The Supreme Court issued a mandate to appoint Pandey as Chief Minister within 48 hours.

Pandey has been made Chief Minister under Article 168 (3) of the Constitution.
