JHAPA: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has stressed on the need for his party and CPN-UML to stand together to amend election system and ensure political stability in the country.

Dr. Koirala expressed skepticism that the current investment conference would yield the expected investment, citing a lack of interest from any country to invest in Nepal without political stability and an understanding of the legal framework and governance situation.

“In a country where there is no political stability, where there is no clarity on laws and regulations, and what the state of governance is, how can investments flow in?” Koirala questioned. “Without addressing these issues, how can investments be attracted to the country?”

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed ‘BP Smriti Bhavan’ of the NC Gauradaha Municipality Working Committee, Dr. Koirala mentioned that rather than running the government, the focus should be on changing the electoral system to ensure political stability for both the Congress and UML.

He expressed doubts about the current electoral system ensuring political stability, arguing that until now, the system has not been able to guarantee political stability.
