Special committee formed to resolve budget disputes in Bagmati Province

KATHMANDU: A breakthrough has been achieved as political parties in Bagmati Province have reached an agreement to form a special committee aimed at resolving budget disputes effectively.

This committee is entrusted with the crucial task of investigating and addressing the ongoing disagreements between the provincial government and opposition parties regarding budget allocations.

It is expected to present its comprehensive report by March 12, following a thorough examination of the issues at hand.

Led by Govinda Lamsal, the Chief Whip of Nepali Congress, the committee comprises two representatives each from CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), CPN-UML, and RPP, along with a representative from the Hamro Nepali Party.

With the consensus among the parties, preparations are now underway to convene a Provincial Assembly meeting this afternoon, marking a positive step towards resolving the budget impasse.

The budget dispute arose due to the provincial government’s failure to implement previously agreed-upon measures, particularly regarding the inclusion of projects proposed by opposition parties.
