Investigate appointment of NARC executive director: RSP lawmaker Kathayat

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatrantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Binita Kathayat has demanded prompt investigation into the appointment of Executive Director of National Agriculture Research Council (NARC).

Member of House of Representatives (HoR) Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resource Committee, Kathayat demanded the committee investigate into the appointment of newly-recruited NARC Executive Director Dr Dhruba Raj Bhattarai.

She drew the attention of committee president Dr Arzoo Deuba.

Parliamentarian Kathayat handed a letter of attention to President Rana noting that appointment of Executive Director Dr Bhattarai was not in line with the NARC Act, 2048 BS.

“The appointed person seems not meeting the qualifications stated in the NARC Act, 2048′, it is noted in the letter.

“This deviation from the standards of works published in agricultural research, post-graduate in agricultural subjects, ten years of work experience in agricultural research raises questions about the validity and adherence of established standards”, the letter stated.

Receiving the letter, President Rana pledged to discuss the issue in the committee and issue necessary directives, Kathayat told RSS.
