High Court dismisses NRNA’s plea to invalidate election

KATHMANDU: The High Court in Patan has rejected the plea filed against the election of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).

The injunction filed by Deepesh Khatri of Hamburg, Germany, on October 12, has been dismissed by the verdict of the bench consisting of judges Shyamji Pradhan and Krishna Ram Koirala.

The court’s decision, based on legal grounds, upholds the legitimacy of the new leadership elected during the recent general convention.

The convention held in Kathmandu had elected Dr. Badri KC as the head of the organization. Meanwhile, another competing group led by R.K. Sharma had also announced the formation of a parallel committee after raising questions about the fairness of the election.

After Sharma’s group raised concerns about the impartiality of the election, the government formed an investigation committee. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reportedly halted the verification process.
