Bomb threat on Air India flight causes tension at TIA

KATHMANDU: Security personnel are conducting a thorough search of an Air India flight following a bomb threat. Flight AI 216, bound for Delhi from Kathmandu, was carrying 158 passengers, including 55 Nepalese.

Security personnel are currently evacuating passengers who had already boarded the plane for inspection.

As a precaution, another aircraft from Himalayan Airlines, parked nearby, has also been moved away from the area.

The Air India flight landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 2:30 PM on Monday. The Nepal Police and the Nepali Army are conducting security inspections at the site.

The bomb threat information originated from the Air India office in Delhi. This incident follows previous bomb scare alerts involving Indian flights that disrupted air travel in Nepal.

As of now, it remains unclear whether an actual bomb was present on the flight.
