210 killed in natural disasters across Nepal since June 10



KATHMANDU: A total of 210 people have lost their lives in various natural disasters, including floods and landslides, triggered by monsoon rains across Nepal since June 10, according to the Nepal Police.

The breakdown of fatalities is as follows: three in Kathmandu Valley, 29 in Koshi Province, eight in Madhes Province, 46 in Bagmati Province, 56 in Gandaki Province, 38 in Lumbini Province, 14 in Karnali Province, and 16 in Sudur Paschim Province.

Nepal Police spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki reported that 272 people have been injured due to landslides and floods.

The injuries are distributed as follows: 11 in Kathmandu Valley, 42 in Koshi Province, 12 in Madhes Province, 31 in Bagmati Province, 47 in Gandaki Province, 25 in Lumbini Province, 68 in Karnali Province, and 36 in Sudur Paschim Province.

Rescue operations have saved four people in Lumbini Province, two in Karnali Province, and 111 in Sudur Paschim Province.

However, 52 people remain missing: three in Koshi Province, one in Madhes Province, 43 in Bagmati Province, two in Gandaki Province, one in Lumbini Province, one in Karnali Province, and one in Sudur Paschim Province.

The search for the missing is ongoing.

In addition to the human toll, the disasters have caused significant property damage.

A total of 408 houses have been submerged by floods, while 365 houses, 126 sheds, 53 bridges, seven schools, and two government offices have been damaged.

Furthermore, 972 cattle have perished, and 6,049 families have been displaced during this period.
