Ministry of Youth and Sports allocated Rs 3.50 billion in budget



KATHMANDU: The government has allocated a budget of Rs 3.50 billion for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

During today’s joint session of the parliament, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun announced the allocation of this amount for the upcoming fiscal year 2081/81.

This allocation marks an increase compared to the previous fiscal year, where the Ministry of Youth and Sports had a budget of Rs 2.87 billion.

The government’s plan includes preparations to excel in international sports competitions and to encourage athletes.

Additionally, the government aims to organize eighty national sports competitions across various disciplines in the coming fiscal year, with Rs 600 million allocated for the 10th National Sports Competition to be held in Surkhet.

The government also aims to promote traditional Nepali sports such as Ghodachadi, Dandi-biyo, Baghchal etc along with organizing international competitions for modern e-sports.

The construction of the Mulpani Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu and the Girijaprasad Koirala Stadium in Biratnagar is planned to be undertaken as a national pride project.

The construction of the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur, Chitwan, in collaboration with provincial and local governments, is prioritized along with the development of sports infrastructure.

Similarly, plans are underway to intensify the construction of the international stadium at TU Cricket Stadium, Kirtipur and the Phapla Cricket Stadium in Kailali.

The government has allocated Rs 1.30 billion for sports infrastructure development.
