Highway subsidence obstructs two-way traffic in East-West Highway

KATHMANDU: The East-West Highway subsided at Nawalparasi Easr last night, obstructing vehicular movement.

According to the District Police Office, Nawalparasi, the highway depression occurred in the Thumsi jungle area of Gaidakot-9 at 2:00 AM on Tuesday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dev Bahadur Paudel reported that two-way traffic is blocked due to the subsidence. Efforts are ongoing to remove a truck trapped in the caved-in road.

Additionally, eight passengers in a bus (Lu 1 Kha 8413) traveling east sustained minor injuries when the driver abruptly braked to avoid the road defect.

Efforts are underway to open the road for one-way traffic, DSP Paudel added.
