KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) to address challenges emerging in the health sector.

During the 12th Assembly of PAHS, the Prime Minister urged academy officials to enhance infrastructure, ensuring quality and effective hospital services.

Emphasizing the vital link between development, prosperity, and public health,  he stressed the importance of accessible, quality health services for all citizens.

Prime Minister Dahal highlighted the Academy’s positive step in providing community-based services and recommended strengthening its programs by incorporating similar initiatives.

He called upon the Ministry of Health and Population to encourage similar programs in other academic and educational institutions.

Acknowledging the predominantly rural nature of Nepal, the Prime Minister emphasized expanding health service access to rural areas by training skilled health workers driven by a sense of social responsibility.

“I direct the Academy to improve its services significantly, benefiting citizens with less access to quality health services and lagging behind in the human development index,” Dahal stated.

He commended the Patan Academy of Health Sciences for its contributions to the overall health sector, including health services, education, and health-related scientific research.

The event was attended by the Minister for Health and Population, a Member of the National Planning Commission, the Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, and Vice-Chancellors of various academies.
