Chinese Vice Minister Haiyan accuses “some countries” of trying to strain Nepal-China relations

KATHMANDU: Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Vice Minister of International Department, Sun Haiyan, who is currently visiting Nepal, expressed concerns about efforts by “some countries” to undermine the strong ties between Nepal and China.

While acknowledging the positive state of political relations between Nepal and China, Haiyan accused “some countries”, without naming, of attempting to disrupt this amicable relationship.

During an interaction program with political leaders in Kathmandu, she asserted that there are nations actively working against the development of robust political ties between Nepal and China, though she refrained from specifying which country or countries she was referring to.

Haiyan emphasized the importance of fortifying the friendship between China and Nepal to counter potential regional conflicts and counteract the spread of misinformation.

Highlighting the increasing number of Chinese tourists visiting Nepal, she underscored the necessity for policy reforms in Nepal’s tourism sector.

She also emphasized the need for comprehensive infrastructure development policy reforms in Nepal to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
