Rabi’s statement concludes in Kaski Court
The statement of Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has been completed at the District Court, Kaski.
His statement began before the bench of Judge Nitij Rai on Thursday afternoon and concluded around 4:30 pm on Friday, as informed by the court.
A case has been filed against 31 individuals, including Rabi, in connection with cooperative fraud amounting to Rs 1.514 billion.
Lamichhane is specifically charged with fraud amounting to Rs 33.765 million related to the Surya Darshan Cooperative.
Four identity-based groups unite to form a new political alliance in Eastern Nepal
Four groups advocating for identity-based federalism have joined forces to establish the United Identity Front, with plans to form a new political party.
The alliance comprises four key groups: the Identity Front led by Prof Dr Mahendra Lawati, Nepal Janamukti Party chaired by KP Palungwa, the Province 1 Renaming Campaign Committee coordinated by Dakendra Singh Thegim, and the Province 1 branch of the Citizens’ Liberation Party, headed by Gyan Bahadur Gurung.
The United Identity Front has committed to creating a new political force within five months, with a focus on promoting identity-based federalism, good governance, and combating corruption.
191 accident deaths recorded Koshi Province in past five months
Motorcycle accidents have emerged as the leading cause of road mishaps in Koshi Province, with 2,092 cases reported in the past five months, according to the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office.
In the first five months of the current fiscal year, a total of 3,498 vehicle accidents occurred across the province.
Among these, motorcycles accounted for the highest number, followed by auto rickshaws, SUVs, and car accidents, said Rameshwor Twati, the office’s information officer.
Gold price up by Rs 400 per tola on Friday
The price of gold saw an increase in the domestic market on Friday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association, gold was traded at Rs 150,700 per tola, marking an increase of Rs 400 from Thursday’s price of Rs 150,300 per tola.
In addition to gold, the price of silver also increased.
Silver was traded at Rs 1,815 per tola, an increase of Rs 15 per tola compared to its previous price.
PM Oli mourns the death of former Indian PM Manmohan Singh
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli offered his condolences over the passing of former Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at the age of 92.
Oli shared his condolences on social media, recalling his discussions with Singh on the shared interests between Nepal and India.
In a heartfelt tribute posted on Facebook, Oli wrote, “Former Prime Minister of our friendly country India, renowned economist, and my friend Dr Manmohan Singh has passed away. I remember the conversations I had with him on the mutual interests of Nepal and India. I pay my heartfelt tributes to the late Manmohan Singh.”
Bhim Rawal expelled for violating party discipline: General Secretary Pokharel
CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said Bhim Rawal was been expelled from the party for failing to adhere to party values and discipline.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal in Chitwan on Friday, Pokharel said Rawal’s persistent defiance of party norms necessitated the action.
“Rawal chose to stand against party decisions and policies rather than work within the system, even when offered an advisory role after his defeat at the Chitwan general convention,” Pokharel said
Protests erupt in Janakpur as Siddhartha Bank allegedly auctions land ender false pretenses
A group of local industrialists and businessmen, led by Surendra Bhandari, president of the Janakpurdham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, staged a protest outside the Mills Area branch of Siddhartha Bank, accusing the institution of cheating them and auctioning off their land under fraudulent circumstances.
The protesters claim that they were ready to repay their loans, but allege that the bank transferred the loan to another person without their consent.
Dry port in Rasuwa 72 % complete
Construction of the dry port in Timure, Rasuwa, located near Nepal’s northern border with China, is 72 percent complete, according to Ashish Gajurel, Executive Director of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee.
Gajurel provided the update after an on-site inspection of the project, which is being built with financial and technical support from the Chinese government.
Key infrastructure developments have already taken shape. A 700-meter-long, 5.5-meter-high cement embankment has been constructed along the Bhotekoshi inlet.
Sri Lankan Former President Wickremesinghe to arrive in Kathmandu on Saturday
Former President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on Saturday for a personal visit.
Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed the visit.
According to the Ministry, appropriate protocol and security arrangements will be provided for the former president during his stay.
