KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said Bhim Rawal was been expelled from the party for failing to adhere to party values and discipline.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal in Chitwan on Friday, Pokharel said Rawal’s persistent defiance of party norms necessitated the action.
“Rawal chose to stand against party decisions and policies rather than work within the system, even when offered an advisory role after his defeat at the Chitwan general convention,” Pokharel said.
He added that Rawal’s refusal to comply with the parliamentary whip and his dismissal of party explanations demonstrated a prolonged departure from party principles.
Pokharel clarified that the expulsions were not arbitrary but grounded in party rules. While the suspension of two other leaders was intended as a warning, Rawal’s case, according to Pokharel, reflects his own decision to distance himself from the party.
