KATHMANDU: The SAFF Women’s Championship semifinal match between Nepal and India has become tense after a controversial refereeing decision.
The dispute arose when the referee disallowed a goal scored by Nepal, leading to protests from the Nepali players. India had taken a 1-0 lead in the 70th minute.
Following the restart, Nepal quickly responded with a goal, but the referee refused to validate it, sparking Nepal’s objections.
The match is currently paused as referees discuss the situation. Nepal is continuing its protest, arguing against the referee’s decision to disallow the goal.
Earlier, in the first half, the referee also declined to award Nepal a penalty despite a potential handball incident in the box.
