TIA to remain closed at night from Nov 8 to March 31

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu will remain closed at night from November 8 to March 31, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

During this period, the CAAN plans to maintain a duty time of 6 hours and 50 minutes, with staff scheduled in three shifts according to current arrangements.

To support this structure, the Authority will provide additional allowances to the staff.

A management meeting recently approved the operation of the airport in three shifts, maintaining a duty time of 6.5 hours.

The head office will publish a complete night roster and assign employees accordingly.

The meeting also decided that the administration would arrange necessary facilities for employees.

Additional staff will be deployed even during off-peak times when there are no scheduled flights or landings.

While the airport is closed, construction will take place on structures such as the parking lot, taxiway, and hangar.

During this time, only a limited number of employees will be on duty for emergency situations, while others will be assigned to alternative tasks.
