KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has urged Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to refrain from issuing threats to the government.

Speaking at the Non-Resident Nepali Association event in Kathmandu on Sunday, he warned that threats would not aid Prachanda in regaining power.

PM Oli asserted that while he does not resort to weapons, he is capable of persuading people to lay down their arms.

He responded to Dahal’s recent remarks by stating that the era of intimidation is over. “We know how to make people lay down weapons,” he emphasized.

He highlighted that Nepal’s development is achievable through collective efforts, noting that the necessary infrastructure is already in place.

However, he stressed that access to technology and equipment alone is insufficient for progress.

PM Oli called on the Non-Resident Nepali Association to maintain integrity, stay united, and avoid political conflicts, reassuring them that the government would not interfere in their operations.

Reflecting on his 1999 visit to Moscow, he recalled discussions with Upendra Mahato regarding the non-residential Nepalese campaign, affirming the government’s commitment to recognizing and supporting NRNs.
