SC orders appointment of Pandey as Gandaki CM within 48 Hours

The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the removal of Gandaki Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari and mandated the appointment of Surendra Raj Pandey, the leader of the largest party Nepali Congress, as the new Chief Minister. The Supreme Court nullified the vote of confidence taken by Adhikari and declared his removal from office. The division bench of Justices Sunil Kumar Pokharel and Kumar Regmi issued the order, invalidating Adhikari’s vote of confidence and directing the appointment of Nepali Congress Provincial Parliamentary Party leader Surendra Raj Pandey as Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168(3) of the Constitution.

Dhanusha District Court extends Kailash Sirohiya’s detention by three more days

The District Court of Dhanusha has granted an additional three days of custody for Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, to facilitate further investigation. On Monday, the court authorized the police to keep Sirohiya in custody for an additional three days. Judge Yaduraj Sharma’s bench allowed three more days for investigation into the charges against Sirohiya.

NC leaders in Baluwatar to seek consensus on cooperative fraud probe

Top leaders of the main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), have returned to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to seek an agreement on forming a parliamentary investigation committee into the cooperative fraud case. After a morning meeting ended without resolution, the NC leaders held internal discussions and then went back to Baluwatar.

KMG Chair Sirohiya at Dhanusha District Court in ambulance

Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, reached at the Dhanusha District Court in an ambulance. After his second detention extension, Sirohiya, citing heart problems, was released from police custody and stayed at Kavya Hospital in Janakpur. He appeared in court on Monday afternoon and left the court after arriving in the ambulance.

UML demands written apology from NC for allegations against Chairman Oli

The main party in the ruling coalition, CPN-UML, has demanded a written public apology from the main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), for the allegations made against its Chairman KP Oli. Speaking to reporters after a meeting of top leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Poudel stated that NC must issue a written apology and publicly apologize for the baseless accusations against Chairman Oli. “NC has been making politically motivated and biased accusations against our Chairman Oli,” Poudel said, adding, “It must issue a written apology for these allegations and publicly apologize.”

Madhes CM Yadav to seek vote of confidence on June 5

Madhes Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav announced he will seek a vote of confidence on June 5. During a conversation with reporters in Janakpur on Monday, CM Yadav stated that the budget session will commence on June 3, and he will seek the vote of confidence on June 5. CM Yadav also mentioned that municipalities demanding conditional grants will receive funds according to the law. “All municipal chiefs are requesting conditional grants. We are working in accordance with the duties of the provincial government,” he said.

SC hearing on petition against Home Minister Lamichhane and Attorney General Pokharel on Wednesday

A hearing on the petition to annul the letter from the Attorney General’s Office, which stated that there were no complaints or prosecutions against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane regarding cooperative fraud, is scheduled at the Supreme Court for Wednesday. SC joint spokesperson, Govinda Ghimire, informed that the case has been scheduled for Wednesday after the petition was registered at the Supreme Court. On May 6, the Attorney General’s Office issued a letter stating that there were no complaints or allegations of embezzlement related to cooperative funds against Minister Lamichhane.
