Nepal to face West Indies A in T20 series opener at Kirtipur today

KATHMANDU: Today marks the beginning of a significant cricket series as Nepal prepares to take on West Indies ‘A’ in a five-match series at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

The highly anticipated T20 series will commence with the first match scheduled to start at 12:15 pm.

West Indies ‘A’ team, consisting of seasoned players, will challenge Nepal’s national team.

Led by 32-year-old Roston Chase, the West Indies team brings a wealth of experience to the field, with Chase boasting 49 Tests, 45 One Day Internationals, and 11 T20 competitions under his belt. Vice-Captain Alick Athanaze, alongside Chase, adds depth to the squad with his own Test and One Day International experience.

The West Indies ‘A’ lineup features notable players such as Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, and Fabian Allen, who bring a formidable challenge to Nepal’s side.

This series marks the first visit of the West Indies team to Nepal, signifying a milestone in cricketing history.

Nepal’s squad, led by Rohit Kumar Paudel, comprises a blend of seasoned players and promising talent, including Asif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, and Dipendra Singh Airee.

The series will unfold with five matches scheduled at Kirtipur, with subsequent matches set for Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
