KATHMANDU: U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu organized a Celebratory Networking Event for prominent Nepali women today.

The event saw the esteemed presence of 50 leading Nepali women from various sectors.

The networking reception for women showcased the U.S. Embassy’s longstanding support for Nepali women trailblazers and demonstrated the U.S. commitment to helping empower women to become key drivers of progress and growth, according to the US Embassy.

Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sewa Lamsal was the guest of honor at the event.

The event highlighted a video address from U.S. Ambassador Dean R. Thompson to all the participating women.

U.S. Embassy spokesperson Zehra Naqvi said

, “The U.S. Embassy is hosting this event to recognize and honor women, but also to create a space for all of us to connect with one another at a different level, learn a bit about each other’s journeys, and hopefully help move all of us forward even more.”

“You’re all here because you didn’t let any glass ceiling define how high you could or would go; you used your voice to advocate for yourself, for others, or for doing the right thing. You’re inspiring, you’re role models to young and old, boys and girls, because you persevere over and over again,” she said.

One of the unique features of the event was the creation of an admiration wall with the pictures/names of each attendee, with red envelopes hanging underneath.
