Three arrested in Morang for gang rape



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three individuals accused of gang-raping a 22-year-old woman from Jahada Rural Municipality in Morang.

The District Police Office, Morang has identified the suspects as Mohammad Gulzar, an Indian national from Kushakatta, Araria in Bihar, and Mohammad Ramzan and Sonukumar Sah, both 19-year-olds from Katahari Rural Municipality-2, Morang.

The incident came to light on Tuesday afternoon when a local woman, out collecting straw, discovered the victim in a semi-conscious state in a bamboo grove in Katahari-2.

The survivor’s hands and feet were tied, and her mouth was covered with a shawl.

Locals assisted police in rescuing the woman, who was immediately admitted to Koshi Hospital for treatment.

According to DSP Ved Prakash Joshi, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the woman’s condition is improving.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects abducted the woman, who had stepped out of her home, and committed the crime in the bamboo grove.

Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
