Govt committed to expanding Social Security scheme: PM Oli

Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli has reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing a broader concept of social security.

In a message marking the 7th Social Security Day, PM Oli stated that the government is actively working to implement the social security scheme in a more organized and systematic manner.

“Today, no citizen in the country should feel the absence of protection or guardianship. The State and government are committed to ensuring the welfare of all citizens,” PM Oli emphasized.

RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane to be brought to Kathmandu on Wednesday or Thursday

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane, who has been in custody at the Kaski District Police Office since October 19, will now be brought to Kathmandu on Wednesday or Thursday for questioning in connection with the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative fraud case.

Lamichhane was initially scheduled to be flown to Kathmandu on Tuesday morning for his statement regarding the alleged embezzlement at the cooperative in Kalimati. However, citing bad weather and other reasons, the police postponed the transfer.

RSP leader Deepak Bohora stated that police have now indicated Lamichhane will be sent to Kathmandu either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.

SC orders evidence submission in Contempt case against RSP MPs

The Supreme Court has ordered the petitioner to submit evidence in a contempt of court case filed against 20 Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

A joint bench of Justices Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Nripadhwaj Niraula issued the order on Tuesday, asking the petitioner to provide proof supporting the allegations.

Advocate Anup Bhattarai had filed the contempt case, accusing the MPs of attempting to pressure the court during an ongoing investigation through public statements, protests, and mobilizing the masses to obstruct judicial processes.

Govt will not take loans under BRI: Minister Gurung

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has clarified that the government will not take loans under the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

He emphasized that while the government will avoid loans, it may enter into grant agreements during Prime Minister KP Oli’s upcoming visit to China next week.

Speaking at an event in Dhulikhel today, Minister Gurung stated, “There are differing opinions on whether to implement the BRI, but it is not that the government will immediately enter into a BRI agreement. Since the MoU has been signed, it should be implemented.”

Gold price drops by Rs 2,600 per tola today

Gold prices have seen a significant drop in recent days.

On Monday, the price of gold fell by Rs 15,900 per tola in just one day, and today it has dropped by an additional Rs 2,600.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers, the current price of gold is Rs 148,700 per tola.

UML suspends Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Durga Chaudhary

The CPN (UML) District Committee of Banke has suspended Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Durga Chaudhary from the party.

Chaudhary was accused of defaming party chair KP Sharma Oli and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, prompting the UML to relieve him of all party responsibilities.

In an official letter, UML Banke Chair Nirak Gurung informed Chaudhary of his suspension, citing actions that harmed the party’s reputation.
