KATHMANDU: The French Embassy in Nepal has announced that Inspector Ujjwal Bahadur Singh of the Nepal Police has been selected for a one-year training program at France’s National Police College (École Nationale Supérieure de la Police or ENSP) in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or.
This selection marks the second time a Nepal Police Inspector has attended this prestigious institution, underscoring the robust and ongoing cooperation between Nepal and France in the realm of security and law enforcement, according to the Embassy of France in Kathmandu.
Inspector Singh’s nomination was confirmed by a French multi-institutional commission. As part of the scholarship, his training from September 2024 to June 2025, as well as his travel expenses, will be covered by the French government.
Additionally, Singh will receive a monthly stipend to support his living expenses during the training period.
The ENSP training program provides officers with advanced knowledge and international exposure, crucial for leadership roles in law enforcement.
It covers various areas including public order, judicial procedure, intelligence, public service, and communication.
For instance, ENSP is introducing a new course focused on institutional communications, which includes media training with an international journalist, tailored to the participants’ roles and countries.
“The training at ENSP is designed to foster international collaboration and professional excellence. We are confident that Inspector Singh’s participation will further strengthen the collaborative ties between the two nations and bring back valuable insights to Nepal,” said Fabrice Cotelle, French Police Attaché for Nepal.
This training initiative is a significant part of the ongoing partnership between Nepali and French law enforcement agencies, aimed at equipping officers with the skills and perspectives necessary for leadership in their organizations.
It follows an international seminar on Fighting Poaching and Wildlife Trafficking held in Kathmandu in May 2024.
