Prithvi Highway reopens after eight hours

TANAHU: The Aanbukhaireni-Muglin road section along the Prithvi Highway has opened following an eight-hour long closure.

The route was closed to retrieve the bus (UP FT 7632) that plunged into the Marsyangdi River at Ainapahara of Aanbukhaireni rural municipality-2 last Friday, resulting in 27 deaths who were pilgrims from India.

The District Administration Tanahu retrieved the bus with the help of a crane. Late, the boom of the crane got snapped, causing a delay in resuming the highway, according to Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam.

Sixteen people were injured in the accident.
