Flights disrupted as floodwaters inundate Biratnagar Airport

BIRATNAGAR: Biratnagar Airport has been closed due to flooding.

Overflowing floodwaters from nearby settlements have inundated the airport, causing flight disruptions and the subsequent closure of the airport.

The floodwaters from the settlement have obstructed the access road to the airport.

Additionally, the helipad has been submerged by the floodwaters.

However, the airport authority has reported that the runway itself has not been flooded so far.

Despite the runway remaining unaffected, the airport has been closed due to the risk of further flooding.

Biratnagar Airport, which typically handles an average of 18 flights per day, has not seen any flights today.

The airport will resume operations only after the floodwaters recede and the situation normalizes.
