IPV vaccination against polio begins today

KATHMANDU: The Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) vaccination campaign against polio has started across the country today.

A total of 1.46 million children are being vaccinated under this campaign.

The IPV vaccination campaign has been initiated in all 77 districts of the country, and the IPV vaccine is also available at regular vaccination centers, according to Abhiyan Gautam, the head of the Central Vaccination Campaign.

Gautam stated that children who missed regular polio vaccinations from 2073 to 2075 BS will be included in this campaign, which will run until June 8.

Although vaccination against polio started in Nepal in 2071 BS, it could not continue from 2073 to 2075 BS due to a worldwide shortage of the IPV vaccine.
